Hurricane Ambassadors
Meet Bruce Clevenger
Bruce Clevenger (aka The Ancient Mariner) has probably taught more beginners
to kayak than any other instructor in the upper Midwest. Bruce started
paddling back when the earth was first cooling and appreciates all aspects
of paddling from lazy hours noodling around the shoreline with a fishing rod
in hand to getting out on the big waters of the Great Lakes. He was the
founder of Quiet World Sports Paddling Center and remains active teaching at
Hurricane dealer events throughout the upper Midwest every summer. One of
his most requested symposium topics has been "30 tips in 30 minutes" which
has never yet fit inside the 30 minute window but darned close! Bruce has
enjoyed an active lifestyle backpacking, cycling and paddling all over North
America and finds kayaking to his main source of rejuvenation.

Craig Richter
Craig Richter's obsession with rivers and non-motorized watercraft was born
on a Boy Scout canoe trip down the Missouri River. Something about floating
on crystal clear waters through the Ozark wilderness struck a deep chord in
Craig that resonates still. After many years of running whitewater
throughout the Pacific Northwest, as both an enthusiast and professional
guide (rafts, kayaks, drift boats), along with stints in Costa Rica (raft
and kayak guide) and a gig in India where he trained local Ganges River
guides, Craig founded DownStream Distribution as an excuse to spend more
time on the water. Craig's ideal vacation still revolves around a river
trip, kayak tour, or some other outdoor adventure. |

Josh Marino
Josh Marino is new to the Hurricane family, but he's no stranger to the paddle sports industry. Josh has worked in the outdoor industry for the last 13 years and recently partnered with veteran paddler Bruce Clevenger and his company Quiet World Sports. Josh took his first paddle strokes eight years ago near Abel Tasman National Park off the coast of New Zealand and never looked back. When not traveling the vast Midwest territory, Josh can be found skiing and hiking the "colossal" mountains of the Midwest, paddling the many rivers of Missouri, or coming up with ways to keep his old dog Jack from getting older. He attributes frequent invitations to go on long excursions to his gourmet wilderness cooking abilities and his uncanny ability to falsely name every bird that flies by as a Red-faced Warbler. Josh started the RinoSquad Agency two years ago, which currently represents 15 outdoor companies in the Midwest and Great Lakes regions. |

Kelly Fischer
Like many youth from Minnesota, Kelly Fischer was introduced to paddling on family adventures in the Boundary Waters, and those trips made a lasting impression that still resonate to this day. Later in life, while attending Northland College, Kelly experienced whitewater kayaking as a PE elective, and the sport became an obsession that led to a career paddlesports.
Kelly is a sales representative for several paddle industry brands (including Hurricane Kayaks) and lives on a small farm on the coast of Maine with his wife Christine and their three children. |
